The size of the sling depends on the wearer's build and the knots used. Some slings require more length than others. The front cross wrap is the simplest knot for beginners: for this knot, you can refer to the following table:

If you are between two sizes, opt for the larger one; it is always better to have a little too much fabric than not enough.
As your baby grows, back carries require a little less length than front carries, so you won't need to get a longer scarf.

Here is a quick checklist to ensure your baby is positioned physiologically:
- at kissing height, so high on your chest,
- clear airways,
- with his back curled up,
- fabric from one hollow of the knee to the other,
- feet outside the carrying device

A baby carrier allows for a high, chest-like carry, keeping your baby at "kissing height." Your abdomen and perineum are free from any compression, so say goodbye to back pain! And if you need a few days to recover, your partner can take over in the meantime!

It's perfectly possible to breastfeed while wearing a sling. There are several techniques. The most common involves untying the final double knot, uncrossing the ends under the baby's bottom, sitting down, and positioning the baby in a cradle hold on the right or left side, so that their mouth is level with your breast. The recommended carry for learning to babywear is the wrap-and-cross carry (fabric panels unfolded, knitted panels unfolded). This carry requires relatively few technical steps and presents little risk of error. Other carries exist, some a little more complex to master. The secret? Practice! The fabric used to make the scarves consists of a very specific weave (broken twill) used only in babywearing and not found in general fabric stores.
A simple canvas would risk being too rigid lengthwise and widthwise, causing shearing, and too soft diagonally, causing deformation and a lack of support. The material must also be sufficiently flexible to allow for proper adjustments.

Stretchy wraps offer a snug, cocoon-like feel, especially for a baby born in winter, and should be used with at least two layers of fabric across the baby's back, sometimes even three, to ensure sufficient support and a secure fit. They are suitable from birth to approximately one year old. After that, a bouncy effect due to the stretchiness can occur, which may be uncomfortable for the parent's back. Woven wraps are much more supportive and can be used with just one layer of fabric across your child's back, from birth to four years old.

When the two parents have very different builds, everything will depend on how the scarf will be used and how significant the difference is.
If there is a primary wearer, we recommend choosing the size according to their build to allow for everyday use of the wrap. Note that there is only a 50cm difference between the 4.10m and 4.60m lengths, meaning that at the end of the wrap, there is only 25cm on either side of the knot. For the wearer needing the 4.10m wrap, this is a minimal difference, but for the other wearer, it's the difference between being able to finish tying the knot or not!
