Stretchy wraps offer a snug, cocoon-like feel, especially for a baby born in winter, and should be used with at least two layers of fabric across the baby's back, sometimes even three, to ensure sufficient support and a secure fit. They are suitable from birth to approximately one year old. After that, a bouncy effect due to the stretchiness can occur, which may be uncomfortable for the parent's back. Woven wraps are much more supportive and can be used with just one layer of fabric across your child's back, from birth to four years old.

A baby carrier wrap is a rectangular piece of fabric approximately 4 to 5 meters long. It can be woven or stretchy. With a baby carrier wrap, you can create several different carrying positions and carry your baby in a front, back, or hip carry. It's a very versatile and comfortable system, but best suited for extended periods of carrying, and requires a couple of practice sessions before you get the hang of it.
The sling is made of the same materials as wraps, but it's only 1.90m long and has a pair of rings sewn onto one end. It's worn across the body; the fabric stays perfectly in place thanks to the rings, and adjustments are easier. It's a fairly simple, knot-free system, lighter than a wrap, and especially practical for everyday carrying, but it's not recommended for very long periods of carrying.

Here is a quick checklist to ensure your baby is positioned physiologically:
- at kissing height, so high on your chest,
- clear airways,
- with his back curled up,
- fabric from one hollow of the knee to the other,
- feet outside the carrying device

The My Cocon baby wrap is made of bamboo viscose knit and is suitable from birth up to 1 year old, thanks to its stretch. It was specifically designed for this first year. After that, a woven wrap in broken twill, jacquard, or SeaCelle can take over until 3 or 4 years old! A baby carrier allows for a high, chest-like carry, keeping your baby at "kissing height." Your abdomen and perineum are free from any compression, so say goodbye to back pain! If you've had a C-section, be careful not to cover your scar with the fabric. It's therefore possible to carry your baby postpartum, as soon as you feel ready. And if you need a few days to recover, your partner can take over in the meantime!

Broken twill weave is breathable, and unlike stretchy wraps, a broken twill baby carrier can be worn as a single layer, preventing overheating. When it's 25 degrees Celsius (77 degrees Fahrenheit), you can carry your baby in just a bodysuit. You can also choose our SeaCell® wraps, made from a material derived from algae and cellulose with natural thermoregulating properties, making them lighter and perfectly suited for summer.

Is your baby already 3 or 4 months old and seems eager to explore their surroundings? Position them on your hip. They can observe their surroundings and rest their head against you when they start to get tired. A woven sling, whether in broken twill, jacquard, or Seacell, is a great addition for curious babies!

When the two parents have very different builds, everything will depend on how the scarf will be used and how significant the difference is.
If there is a primary wearer, we recommend choosing the size according to their build to allow for everyday use of the wrap. Note that there is only a 50cm difference between the 4.10m and 4.60m lengths, meaning that at the end of the wrap, there is only 25cm on either side of the knot. For the wearer needing the 4.10m wrap, this is a minimal difference, but for the other wearer, it's the difference between being able to finish tying the knot or not!
