Sling Seigaiha Jaune SeaCell®

A baby carrier wrap is a rectangular piece of fabric approximately 4 to 5 meters long. It can be woven or stretchy. With a baby carrier wrap, you can create several different carrying positions and carry your baby in a front, back, or hip carry. It's a very versatile and comfortable system, but best suited for extended periods of carrying, and requires a couple of practice sessions before you get the hang of it.
The sling is made of the same materials as wraps, but it's only 1.90m long and has a pair of rings sewn onto one end. It's worn across the body; the fabric stays perfectly in place thanks to the rings, and adjustments are easier. It's a fairly simple, knot-free system, lighter than a wrap, and especially practical for everyday carrying, but it's not recommended for very long periods of carrying.

Here is a quick checklist to ensure your baby is positioned physiologically:
- at kissing height, so high on your chest,
- clear airways,
- with his back curled up,
- fabric from one hollow of the knee to the other,
- feet outside the carrying device

The sling allows you to carry your child from birth up to 2 or 3 years old. It is a particularly practical carrying method when you have children close in age or twins, freeing up your hands.

A baby carrier allows for a high, chest-like carry, keeping your baby at "kissing height." Your abdomen and perineum are free from any compression, so say goodbye to back pain! If you've had a C-section, be careful not to cover your scar with the fabric. It's therefore possible to carry your baby postpartum, as soon as you feel ready. And if you need a few days to recover, your partner can take over in the meantime!

It's perfectly possible to breastfeed in a sling. In fact, it's often one of the advantages mentioned by new mothers! There are several techniques. The most common involves loosening the rings, positioning the baby in a cradle hold at breast height, and supporting their head with the crook of your elbow. This leaves you with one hand completely free, and you don't strain your neck at all in this position: the sling provides the support for your baby. Just be careful not to cover their head with fabric. We share other alternatives on our Instagram account, which is full of information and tips.

Broken twill weave is breathable, and unlike stretchy wraps, a broken twill baby carrier can be worn as a single layer, preventing overheating. When it's 25 degrees Celsius (77 degrees Fahrenheit), you can carry your baby in just a bodysuit. Is your baby already 3 or 4 months old and seems eager to explore their surroundings? Position them on your hip. They can observe their surroundings and rest their head against you when they start to get tired. A woven sling, whether in broken twill, jacquard, or Seacell, is a great addition for curious babies!

While in theory it would be possible to use rings to transform a scarf into a sling and thus only invest in a single 2-in-1 baby carrier, the practice is quite different.
- The scarf in question must have a composition that allows it to be used as a sling (for example, it will not be safe as a stretchy wrap).
- The scarf measures on average 4.60m, whereas to make a sling you only use a maximum of 2m: this results in at least 2.60m of excess material which will hinder its use
Generally speaking, the sling is intended to be a practical and quick way to put it on; setting up the rings takes time and is difficult to anticipate: tying the scarf directly is generally faster!

Stretchy slings offer a snug, cocoon-like feel, especially for a baby born in winter, and respect their naturally curled position. They are suitable from birth up to approximately 11/12 kg. After that, a bouncy effect occurs due to the stretchiness, which can be uncomfortable for the parent's back. Woven slings are much more supportive and can be used with a single layer of fabric on your child's back, from birth to 4 years old.

From the parent's perspective, it's easy to set up and meets the baby's alternating needs (getting on and off). It allows you to have at least one arm free for everyday tasks and provides more open space in front of you than if the baby is carried on your front.

From the baby's perspective, they have a wider field of vision while maintaining close contact (vision and body) with their parent. This allows them to discover the world safely (without the harmful overstimulation of facing the world) and to be attentive to everything you do… they love it!

After getting to grips with the equipment, you can carry on your hip from birth with a sling, a scarf or a p'tit évo.
